41 Weeks

With a vast library of developmentally appropriate books, Oliver has now decided he only likes a select few and wants to read them over and over and over. He's cruising more on the furniture and will sometimes stand alone momentarily. He has spent months determined to learn to crawl, and that is already old news to him...he will only walk now. All the time. We've been working on the "more" sign, and right now he is clapping for more which is pretty close and extremely cute.

Oh Oliver, you are so much fun. I enjoy my days with you immensely, watching you learn and play and make silly noises. Reading, playing in the park, splashing in the water, building forts and towers, chasing each other around the table, having tickle fights...it feels like I have waited so long for this and it seems like you have too. Your personality is shining through and you are becoming just the person you were destined to be. I love you. Thank you for being you.

35 Weeks

This week was all about the commando crawl! Oliver pulls himself by his arms and shimmies flat on the floor with his left leg only. I put on a video of babies crawling for him to watch and he got so excited he crawled towards it. So like a mean mother, I kept moving it further away so he would keep going. He also enjoys standing holding on to his Smoking Lily hassock, the ottoman, or the banister at the top of the stairs (totally safe, I know). He has pulled himself up into plant pots, the dishwasher and the guitar and is about to get into all kinds of other things I'm sure.

He has learned the sign for light and practices it at breakfast sometimes, but he is usually more distracted by the two Tintin mugs Ben and I drink out of. He tries to say Tintin and gets excited every time we take a sip. He is very fond of his big brother Dexter the budgie, and giggles every time he sees him.
