26 Weeks: 6 months!

I can't believe my baby is 6 months old!

It seems like just a few weeks ago he was a tiny newborn swaddled in his bassinet. In the middle of the night I would peer over the edge to watch him sleep in the dim light...

Now he is a babbling babe who loves to read stretched out on the floor with Mom, or curled up cozy in bed with Dad. He loves to peer his head around the book, waiting for you to turn the page, to see if he remembers what's next. He has favorite books and will pick them out of a pile and when you hold them up he squeals in delight. He says Da and Ma, although we can't decide if he completely knows what they mean yet...He loves to laugh when Dad holds him up like a cob of corn and nibble on his ribs, or when Mom turns into the tickle monster and slowly jumps towards him with hands ready. He loves to smile at any stranger who will smile back, and has made friends with all the ladies at the corner grocery store who will always take time to chat to him and tickle his toes. He loves to suck his thumb and snuggle in Moms arms. He loves to lay next to Dad's face and carefully examine his nose and eyebrows while quietly cooing. He loves to play on the piano, shake a rattle, bang on pots and pans, listen to music and dance while we sing. He LOVES playing with the cordless phone and giggles when we hold it up to our ear and say "hello?" He loves rolling around on the floor discovering toys, turning them over and over in his hands, holding them in every which way. He is mostly just a happy baby, and is constantly growing and changing and learning, always curious...

I am so thankful for my time with him everyday. It is such a joy to watch him discover everything for the first time. I will cherish every day with him try to hold onto these moments...

22 Weeks

Okay, so this picture might have been on a whim, a little. Oliver is keeping us busy busy busy!

This week Oliver got a whole bunch of new books, mostly farm animal themed. He loves cows that moo, dogs that woof woof, and cats that meow. Those sounds always bring a huge smile to his face. I highly recommend "Moo, Baa, La La La" for a first baby book.

What else...he's *starting* to nap in his crib more consistently, the morning nap is pretty solid and we're moving on to the midday nap now. I hesitate to say that it is going well, today is the first day and so far so good.

The little monkey had started reaching up his arms when he wants to be held. Absolutely adorable even if it happens constantly. He still loves a cuddle whenever he can get one, and sucks his thumb whenever he remembers it. He's tried a handful of times to crawl backwards, but it's still more of an unplanned scooch right now.

His second bottom tooth showed up and the chewing continues. I'm a little suspicious that there are more on their way soon. Time is just flying.

18 Weeks

With the seasons changing, we've been trying to sneak in as many sunny walks as we can. This weekend we took a stroll down to the beach at Dallas Road, with Oli sporting his maritimer hoodie from his G.G. Rosalind. We laid on the rocks, listened to the waves, and watched the sunset. We were back just in time to get Oliver ready for his 6:15 bedtime...which we're trying to gradually move later before daylight savings time comes.

Nighttime sleep is a million times better than it has been, daytime sleep still consists of three brief half an hour naps. Oliver has been especially cuddly this last week, which is a nice treat. He's discovered the labels on all of his toys, and examines them closely with his tiny fingers. He's also been doing some mighty pushups in preparation for the inevitable crawl that he wants to master well before his time.
