(If you look closely you can see teeth!)
This has been such an exciting week! Ben is sure Oliver said his first word. I, on the other hand, think he has discovered making noises which coincidentally sound like a certain someone's name. Either way it is extremely exciting! He spouting out gagagagas, yayayayas, and dadadada's. He also loves sticking his whole hand (or foot) in his mouth and making neat noises that way too. His voice is mostly quiet, gentle babbling right now, with the occasional squeak or squeal of delight.
He has started touching the textures parts of some of his books. He especially likes the furry eyebrows on the ape in "That's Not My Monkey" and opening and closing the door to the house in "Baby Play Day."
We've also been sitting him in his highchair while we eat breakfast which has become one of our favorite times of day. Oliver plays with whatever toy we can find nearby, or when there isn't one he equally likes cereal boxes, spoons and cups.
His favorite toys right now are anything that makes noise: rattles, containers of coins, banging anything against anything else. So I took this new found interest as an opportunity to fulfill something I have so been looking forward to...playing the drums on pots and pans! Oliver seemed to enjoy it too, haha. We picked the loudest pot just for the benefit of the neighbors. Such fun!
Tuesday was another big day...Oliver was able to stay sitting up without any support! Granted it was only for about one minute, but I am excited at the prospect of him being more able to move and discover things at his own direction. I know, I know, I should enjoy this calm phase while I still can.
So I will.
